Alan Goldstein

Alan Goldstein opened CIty Art Works in 1988 – 23 years ago.  Though born and raised in Southern California, his family had southern roots from Georgia.  In 1986 with wife Vicki, a North Carolina native, they moved to Charlotte.  He had previously worked as a commercial photographer, that experience along with his life long interest in art and design paved the way for him to explore opening an art gallery.  He spent his first 2 years in Charlotte, attending gift and craft shows and visiting numerous galleries and stores.  Best of all was spending time in the mountains of North Carolina near Asheveille and the Penland Craft School- an area rich in artisans of all disciplines.  City Art Works was born- a mixture of unique styles of craft, folkart and jewelry displayed in a dramatic manner!=
